415th Wilhelm & Else Heraeus Seminar

Quarks and Hadrons in strong QCD

17th of March 2008 - 20th of March 2008

--------------------------

The aim of this workshop is to bring together leading international experts and young researchers on

  • - Quark and gluon confinement
  • - QCD Green's functions
  • - Mesons and baryons as relativistic bound states
  • - Deconfinement- and chiral phase transition
  • to present and discuss recent developments and fundamental issues.

    --------------------------

    Invited speakers are

    on theoretical topics

  • Reinhard Alkofer (Graz, Austria)
  • Attilio Cucchieri (Sao Paulo, Brazil)
  • Adriano de Giacomo (Pisa, Italy)
  • Christof Gattringer (Graz, Austria)
  • Holger Gies (Heidelberg, Germany)
  • Jeff Greensite (San Francisco, United States of America)
  • Jan Pawlowski (Heidelberg University, Germany)
  • Mike Pennington (Durham, Great Britian)
  • Adam Sczepaniak (Indiana, United States of America
  • Yuri Simonov (ITEP, Russia)
  • Lorenz von Smekal (Adelaide, Australia)
  • Silvio Sorella (Rio de Janerio, Brazil)
  • Anthony Thomas (JLab,United States of America)
  • Andreas Wipf (Jena, Germany)
  • Daniel Zwanziger (New York, United States of America)
  • and for experimental overview talks

  • Claudia Höhne (CBM, GSI, Germany)
  • Dariusz Miskowiec (ALICE, GSI, Germany)
  • Arthur Moraes (ATLAS, Glasgow, United Kingdom)
  • Lars Schmitt (PANDA, GSI, Germany).
  • The number of participants will is 53. About a third of the time will be filled with shorter talks, in particular from young researchers. Ample time is forseen for further discussions. A permanent presentation of posters will be possible.

    --------------------------

The workshop will take place from the 17th of March to the 20th of March 2008 at the Hotel Rheinfels in St. Goar, Germany, conveniently located between the airports Frankfurt/Main and Hahn. Also close by is Darmstadt, which hosts the convention of the German Physical Society (section nuclei and hadrons) in the week before.

From Frankfurt/Main airport (Regionalbahnhof), you can get a connection approximately every half hour. The ride takes about one to one and a half hour. However, you will have to switch the train always once, but the details where to switch depends on the time. The cost is about 15-22 Euros for one way, depending again on the connection, and thus the quality of the trains. Please use the web-page of the Germain railway Deutsche Bundesbahn (can be switched to English). You can also buy tickets in advance there.

From the airport Hahn, a connection leaves about every fourty minutes. In this case, you will first have to take a bus, and then switch to a train (and possibly change the train once or twice thereafter). Again, it depends on the time of your connection where you have to switch. The costs are about 10-15 Euros, and the ride takes about two to three hours. Details can be found again on the webpage of the Deutsche Bundesbahn. However, not for all connections it is possible to buy your ticket online in this case.

Please note for your travel plans that the workshop starts early on the 17th of March (09:00, registration opens at 08:00) and will continue into the late afternoon of the 20th of March (16:00). Precise times can also be found in the preliminary program.

    --------------------------

The conference fee is 276,- Euro, including lunch and dinner from Sunday evening until Thursday noon.
